Mark Kenneth Williams is a Maryland based producer, engineer, mixer and multi instrumentalist. Mark is the owner of Sucker Punch Recording Co. in downtown Bethesda, MD. Mark toured the country with the Pop Rock band Jonasay in the 90's and 2000's. Jonasay toured extensively, sharing the stage with Hootie and The Blowfish, Vertical Horizon, Sister Hazel, Live, Tommy Keene and many others.

With over 30 years of performing, writing, producing and engineering I have worked with many genres of music ranging from Indie Rock to Americana, Pop and many others. My main requirements are that I like the music brought to me and that I can get the proper translation of emotion to the listener.

Post touring I placed my focus on Producing and Mixing records. In all of my bands I would obsess over the recording process and do my best to be present at all sessions. I love working with the artist to help them create their aesthetic while providing an efficient workflow. It's about bringing the best out of each artist while keeping them comfortable and inspired! Each project is a new journey with a different set of brushes and maneuvers.

I feel quite lucky to work in such a challenging and inspiring environment!!! Please Contact me with any questions!!

Testimonials

I’ve spent many hours working with Mark over at Sucker Punch for the new O.A.R. album and enjoyed every second.  The place is gear heaven with zero pretension and Mark’s skill and ears are impeccable.  I can’t wait to get in there and make more music.
— Marc Roberge, Lead Singer, OAR
First of all, you want Mark around you. He has that effortless quality to turn a good moment in to a truly exceptional one - one that you will remember your whole life. And THAT’S the guy you want producing your record, because you know that the songs, and even you yourself, are going to be made better by his presence and contributions. On top of that he’s one of the best guitar players I know, and he absolutely lives, breathes and excretes music! So there. Mark rules!
— Matthew Scannell, Lead singer/guitarist for Vertical Horizon.

Mark is a pleasure to work with in person as a musician/engineer as well as from a far in these crazy times. He mixed what has become a bit of an underground hit recently and did a fabulous job. Sucker punch is a state of the art studio, but it’s all about the ears. You get the whole package with this bloke. 5 out of 5 stars!
— Jody Porter - Songwriter, guitarist for fountains of wayne
Mark has amazing ears, chops, talent, musicianship, patience, songwriting skills, social skills, tone and is hands down the best guy to hang with in the world. He just gets it…a true professional. I always look forward to mixing his records. He makes my job easy and fun.
— Jeff Juliano - Mixer/engineer for John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Dave Matthews, Lifehouse, O.A.R., and many more!

Mark does what a great producer/engineer is supposed to do: he gets great individual sounds and he sees the Big Picture when he assembles tracks. He is patient with the small details and mindful of the artist’s overall vision. Mark has all the tools required to help an artist build a beautiful record. Mark is a gear nut who seeks out the best equipment, and he is a musician, so he understands all of the neurotic stuff that you are concerned with while he is busy making you sound good.
— Parthenon Huxley (Singer, Songwriter, Producer, Major Label artist)
Mark is the songwriter’s guitarist, engineer and producer. He knows what to do, and more importantly, what not to do. He is my Mike Campbell.
— Todd Wright, Writer /Producer Celine Dion, Toby Lightman

Recording with Mark is a real pleasure. He has great ears and a terrific melodic sensibility. He also does an excellent job of simultaneously putting you at ease and pushing you to be better. Some of my best studio moments have come as a result of his effective combination of patience and prodding. Love working with him!
— Cal Stamp ( Guitarist, Spirit Animal )
Mark has been an integral role in my song production for almost a decade. I can be half way around the world and he will be the best and most reliable musician for the project. Mark’s ability to write and produce genre’s that touch multiple generations is second nature… all of this fused with his likeableness, sense of humor, and work ethic makes for an inspiring time with Mark.
— Ross Lara (Paul Oakenfold, BT, Blue October)
